I just installed my Debian and it tells me that i dont have a background and so it wont even begin to load xwindows. I had it install KDE and after i type in startx, it goes through some text stuff that makes it look like all is well, but then it comes up with the error that i previously listed. Help me.

You forgot to mention your video card. Would you need drivers for it?
Try this command:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

You need to get drivers for that card, I think. Try a board search with that and see what turns up.

If you don't have the drivers yet, try this link http://mirror.ati.com/support/faq/linux.html it seems that they don't have drivers for the 7500, but you'll probably find something if you search around the ATI site.
