I have scoured around to find tutorials/viewpoints on how to setup a Redhat network. Now when I envision this network, I am mostly thinking of having a server for file, print, and authentication purposes with workstations, which authenticate login with it.

Other purposes I plan for the server is to run PHP and MySQL for my web apps. (incase that might play a part in things).

Appreciate the help in advance!

I appreciate the reply, however, that is not the quick and easy answer. Let me try and rephrase my request:

I have done administering NT networks here at LSU for a couple of years. All users on campus have roaming profiles such that they are not terribly confined. Also, within particular departments/buildings, there are services such as printing and file storage available. Now, I know I could run NFS/Samba for file sharing, LPQ or something else for printing, however, what recommendations do people have for creating a Redhat network that allows roaming profiles? Creating accounts for everyone on every machine is unacceptable. I talked with a colleague who works mostly with Redhat on s390 and he mentioned using LDAP. What other alternatives are there, problems in doing so, tips, et cetera?

Appreciative your perspective
