Where did my Panel go?

I recently was trying to update my netscape navigator and the installation wouldn't start. anyway I rebooted after that and now my panel doesn't show up. I can go into the terminal and type "panel" and it will come back. But it now doesn't display the open windows on it. can someone tell me how I can get my panel to come up right when i start the computer with the open windows being displayed? thanks from a newb...

First we need some more details...Distribution, is this in Gnome (I bet it is...) blah blah blah

I don't know where to look for it not starting (somewhere in your ~/.gnome directory, you could delete the ~/.gnome/panel directory. To add the tasks list (this is in Gnome) right click on the panel and select "add to panel" Applets and under Utilities it's called TaskList.

My panel dissapeared too! I tried typing 'panel' in a terminal but I think it brought up the Gnome one, (I use KDE) and all the colors were messed up and then it all just quit again! :confused: Any ideas....?
