Recently installed Mandrake Linux 9.0 on a Compaq Presario 710 US notebook. So far, everything looks good. I'm running a home network with two other computers both with XP Pro as the O.S. I have been researching how to network the Linux computer with the Xp boxes and every post and article I have read says to install Samba. My problem is that when I try to install Samba off of the installation disc, the cd drive kicks open and I'm told to insert the disc. This also happens when I try to install optional packages off of the disc. I'm going to keep searching for articles and posts on this topic but was also hoping for advice from those that understand this operating system and how it works to maybe point me in the right direction. I know it's something I've screwed up but I'm so new to Linux I don't know where to even begin looking. Also, if anyone knows of a site that has good reference material on setting up the network I would appreciate it greatly, most of the sites I've found assume you already have a thorough working knowledge of Linux, and as is more than apparent, I do not. Damnit!!! I WILL make this work, just need some help and maybe a good kick in the *** to get me started. Thanks in advance.

When the CD drive opens put in the CD it asks for, Close the door and click ok. Depending on what was originally installed you may need both CD 1 and 2. It will let you know.
Here (http://samba.netfirms.com/sambconf.htm) is a good article for setting up samba.

Thanks for the link to Samba, I've managed to get the computers talking to eachother, (ping) and ICS are working but I haven't been able to set up network shares yet, I'm sure the information from the linked site will help. The problem with the cd ejection was from a misconfigured /etc/fstab entry. Edited the file and problem solved, was trying to make it more complicated than what it was. Thanks again.
