I've been searching all over the place with no luck! Anyone know where I can find information to get a Java Virtual Machine for Pocket PC 2002? And the development kit? I have an iPaq 3870 and I wanna start programming in java for it!

Thanks!

This may be a seriously newb answer, but wouldn't the JVM for Windows do the trick? The OS is some bastardized version of Windows after all.

Yah.. I cant seem to find that Microsoft VM tho. Thing is I heard about Insignia's Jeode. I was wondering whether anyone knows if there is another like that for free or for a cheaper price.

I seriously doubt (almost 99.999% sure) that the windows version will never work on pocket PC... just to let you know i'm not talking out of my arse, i spent almost a year doing tech support for just the iPAQ before HP bought out compaq and sent all the support to india...

anyway, back to the subject... have you looked at the developers kit for PPC?

Also.. try searching the forums at www.pocketpcpassion.com or www.brighthand.com... pocketpcpassion will probably be your best bet tho.. it was always a good spot to look up answers for me anyway...

just out of curiosity... have you call tech support?... they won;t know a thing about java but i just wondered what kind of a job they're doing ;)

After a quick search i just found this response on the pocketpcpassion forum which might help as far as installing some java support - still not sure about the developers kit tho

On the installation CD you got with your 3870 there is an application called Jeode, this is a Java runtime engine and will allow you to run certain Java apps. on your PocketPC.
