I'm confused ! First I needed a printing system so I got CUPS but now I need a driver for my printer but all I get is som pdd at linuxprinting.org. Is a printer driver the same as a pdd ? And what are all those filters ? I don't have a postscript printer so I think I need ghostscript drivers, but there are many ghostscirpts! I really don't understand it anymore ! Could somebody just tell me what I need to get my Canon BJC-2000 working ? Or just explain to me how all this things work.

CUPS is a printer server. You can set the printer up right in a web browser. Try

netstat -an | grep LISTEN

See the 600. Try opening

http://127.0.0.1:600

Others are printer demons(damn I'm playing too much war3). You need either one of them in addition to a printer module(driver).
