I just reloaded Mandrake 9.0 on my machine a few weeks ago, before my comp was completely pieced together. In it was my Seagate HD, my Maxtor HD, and my ancient Creative 12x cdrw. The final piece i had been waiting for was just installed a couple days ago - a shiny new Pacific Digital DVD rom.
My problem is that my DVD is not recognized by Linux and I was wondering how to tell linux where to look to find my new toy. -PM-

MDK probably configured it as /mnt/cdrom. If so you can always change the link and rename it.

You can check the control center under hardware to see if it is configured. Check /etc/fstab to see if you have an entry. If not you can add one.

i was told by one of my BSD friends that dvd-rom are found as something different in MDK and most other distros. so what would that make the link turn out to be?-PM-
