Hey guys, I finaly screwed up my WinXP partition, and now I am ready to have linux on my main box after tinkering with it on my laptop for so long.. but here is the issue.. Some of the hardware in my main box might simply not work without some pushing. First, I'll give you my hardware specs.

MSI 850E max Mainboard
P4 2.8ghz
512 Rambus
Visiontek GeForce 4 Ti4600
Promise FastTrak 100 Raid controller
3 x 120 Western digital 8 meg buffers HDD's
Sound Blaster Audigy
Netgear nic
Intellimouse Explorer (USB)
Blue tooth Keyboard (Also have a boring PS/2 for non-winxp apps)
Plexstor 48x CD-RW
Pioneer DVD 16X
Floppy drive
and I think that is the important stuff.

Anyway, I like Raid, I am addicted to raid, in fact, I would prolly scarafice my girlfriend before I go without raid (For WinXP anyway). I thought I would try and trick Linux into running on part of one of the HDDs connected to the regular IDE port, and leave my WinXP drives alone, abd just set the boot order in the bios to boot off the linux drive first, install linux, and just modify the lilo.conf to set a new boot option to hde (Raid array drives show up as HDE and HDF to linux) and hope lilo would not catch on... Well, this is not the case, on the first boot it told me that the partition on HDE was not bootable, and now I cannot even boot directly to Winxp anymore, but that is no big deal right now.

Hese is the core of my question: How should I partition this all up so I could possibly take advantage of my raid while in WinXP, and still be able to use Mandrake 9.0? I was thinking of dedicating about 30 gigs to linux at first and just resizing paritions if nessicary, but that is not a big deal. Any suggestions on how I would best use my hardware/hard drive space? Thanks in advance.

Also, The Linux Distro I wish to use is Mandrake 9.0
