Choozo 05-24-2002, 06:53 AM An impossible question to answer since you don't tell us which distro/version you have installed. However, running 'Xconfigurator' as root on Mandrake and RedHat(?) should work. alan804 05-24-2002, 01:16 PM Yes, I appoligize for not stating which version. Redhat 7.3 to be exact. Now, can you tell me how to change the default mode, from GUI to Command line, from the command line? Choozo 05-25-2002, 09:17 AM Edit your /etc/inittab file, and set default runlevel from 5 to 3 (I use Mandrake, but they both use the same layout for runlevels). # Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are: # 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this) # 1 - Single user mode # 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking) # 3 - Full multiuser mode # 4 - unused # 5 - X11 # 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this) # id:3:initdefault: justlinux.com
