Partitioning for XP & RH8

I'm on RH8 after a day full of downloading and installing it. My friend is trying to do the same. But, when he goes to apply his partition setttings made in Partition Magic 7, the computer reboots and does the necessary operations. Not long after starting it freezes up and doesn't complete the partitioning.

I did my partition with Partition Magic 8. Should he too upgrade? Any suggestions greatly apprecated!!!!

I've never had any problems using PM7 though I only boot from the PM rescue disks and use those for all my partitioning.

What partitioning operations is your friend trying to do? What are the existing partitions and what additions/deletions/moving is he attempting?

Well, I think he solved the problem. He was trying to resize a windows partition to make room for RH8. The problem happened when the computer froze during actually doing the partition operation. Because of that he had to do system restore and what not cause the computer perceived it as being done without the actual changes there.
