I decided I wanted to make a full install of Slack 8.1 to my second HD, however, when I pop in the cd and try to change the line to:

boot: bare.i=/dev/hdb1 ...(omitting rest of sequence), it does begin the boot process, but stops giving me a kernel panic.

The partition is a primary partition (don't remember if it was made bootable) with ext2 FS & necessary swap space.

My system is set up such that hda is the primary drive and hdb is a slave.

I'm currently running a mini install of Slack in DOS and want to give it it's own "home".

What am I doing wrong here?

All help will be appreciated.

bare.i=/dev/hdb1 isn't a valid parameter. Just enter bare.i (or just press enter), and go through the install as usual, just be sure to select the correct partitions for your target.
