RPM Install Failed

Perhaps someone can help: I am trying to install ethereal on a RH 7.2 and am using RPM from a shell. I get three errors when I try to do the install:

error: cannot get an exlusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/packages
error: cannot open packages index using db3-operation not permitted
error: cannot open packages database in /var/ib/rpm

I think I ran into this when I installed Samba and I thought it had to do with the directory that I executed it from. However, I tried doing it from various directory's and still no luck.

Anyone run into this before.

Have you tried it as root?

I thought that i was logged in as root, but now that you mention it I could go back tonight and try again and assure that I was in root when I got the error.

Dah that did it...works great now the fun begins in figuring out how to use it, but doesn't look to bad.
