Hello,
Hope this is the proper place to enter this ?
I am new to this group, so correct me if needed.
I am a real Linux Newbie, I have (almost anyway)
successfully installed Suse 7.2 dual boot with win 98 se but could not maintain that program, thus gave up on Suse. Now, reading all the kidoos about Mandrake 9.0, am having a go at that.
Tried installing from window environment using CD, but after install gets to "Mandrake must re-start your computer, O.K." That screen just sits there and buttons do not work.
So I tried the CD rom boot option, and all I get is many colors of static on my monitor with the keyboard disabled so need re-boot to get out.
Lastly used the winrite to make a floppy, and tried to reboot with CD and floppy as suggested. Still only get the static, and was hoping some kind heart here could advise me on any other likelyhoods or ideas.
Currently running Soyo k7vlm-b MB and Athlon Thunderbird 1.1 processer 256mb RAM. I really want to make the change to linux, will not have XP or other MS products.
Thanks in advance, willbair@netscape.net

If you have some sort of partition besides your dos and your bios set to boot from the cdrom the install should start without any problems. If your screen is going all wacko I would guess you burned a bad CD. When I first downloaded Mandrake cd1 was fine but cd2 was all dorked up and I had to download it again and reburn it.
If you still need help ask again...
