This one is for the DOH! file.

For those debian users with a sound blaster 16 with the es1371 chip. DO NOT use sndconfig (though it's included) It includes lines in the modules.conf file that keep the card from initializing until after the first logon. Instead, just use modconf and install the es1371 module into the kernel. This is also using the bz24 kernel from the install cd. I've been fighting with this for a while. My sound would work but only after my first login to KDE. Didn't matter if it was root or user the first one. But just using modconf got it set up. This has been my main snag from moving to Debian full time. Now work on the kppp as user catch.
