Debian Woody 3.0r1 Laptop Install, Weird LCD Probs

OS: Debian Woody 3.0r1
Machine: Toshiba 1800-354S

Ive got an extremely weird laptop problem. I started the installer and 1/4 my laptop LCD is missing. Now i have VGA and plugged the laptop into my monitor and it appears again. So i installed it with my monitor. Once i was done i tried it with its own LCD and 1/4 is still missing.
I know its not the LCD because ive installed Suse Pro 8.1 and Redhat 8. Im currently reinstalling Suse again because i need a useable system.
If anyones got any ideas please give me them thanks very much

For other users i fixed the problem
do the same as this

just change the "vga=normal" to "vga=0x317" in the lilo.conf and the lilo at the console. Restart. Everything is cool again.
