Boy, I was so happy. I had just gotten my new Red Hat 8.0 Linux set up smoothy. Wait, whats this red icon on my toolbar? Oh ok, looks like I need to update the kernal. So I did. Then when i boot it up again, my PS2 mouse dosnt work! I know it is connected, because when i try to move it, it shakes a little, but dosnt really move. Please help!!! Also, i see my bootloader has 2 versions of Linux when I start it up ever since I upgraded the kernel. anything I should do about that?

There could be a number of problems. Check your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. Look for the section about the pointer device. If it is a wheel mouse, make sure protocall is set to imps/2 otherwise it is set to PS/2. Also device should more than likely be set to /dev/psaux if it is set to /dev/mouse check to see that the /dev/mouse link points to /dev/psaux

These are the most common problems with mouse setup.

As far as the boot loader, it probobly has the option to boot into your old kernel. See if booting into that gives any help too. This will help narrow down the problem.
