diable x on boot RH8.0 so i can install nvidia drivers.

Make your way to your /etc/inittab and change the default run level to the number that corresponds to the "single user mode" for your distro.(Take note of the number you are replacing) Save, exit and reboot. You will be in the console. Do your work, then use the command "startx" to invoke the GUI and reverse the process on the file /etc/inittab
