I get "Unable to enter file:/mnt/cdrom" message when I want to run a CD from my CDROM. When I insert the CD, it does not want to run automatically, so I tried manually by clicking on "Removable meadia" and then on the CRROM icon, but it still does not open its contents. I think that the CDROM is not mounted properly. I am running KDE 3 Desktop Environment on Mandrake 9.0!
Help appreciated!

There were some problems reported with the 'Supermount' option in Mandrake.
Try this:
1. Open /etc/fstab in your favourite text editor, and then remove the bit that says supermount next to /dev/cdrom
2. Mount the cdrom manually with the command mount /mnt/cdrom

When I edit the file and want to save it, it gives me this:
"The file could not be saved. Please check if you have write permission."
How can I save that file after editing it so that I can go to the 2nd step.

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/demos/Tutorial/CDburner/
I went to this link to find how to do it, but it is no longer there. Does anyone know where I can find this tutorial and the updated address?
Help appreciated!

You need to be root when editing and saving configuration files in /etc.
At the commandline/konsole etc.
su -
<root password>
kedit /etc/fstab

Ok, it says auto user when it opens, not supermount! What should I do now? When I install new packages, the CDROM opens and reads the cd without any problems, but when I insert a cd, it does not want to open it automatically. It does not even want to open it when I click on the icon "Removable media"! This means there must be something that is not configured properly because it does not recognize any cds inserted other than the ones Mandrake 9.0 wants for packages.
Help appreciated!

I'm confused...
When I install new packages, the CDROM opens and reads the cd without any problems
but when I insert a cd, it does not want to open it automatically.
Which is it?
What's the difference in the CDs. Data?, Music?, Filesystems?

Is there a command with which you tell the system to run the cd for you? I want to see if it will work manually.
Help appreciated!

My distro (Caldera) in the KDE Control Center under Peripherals/CD-ROM (Autorun) has
Audio CD's - Play on Insert
Data CD's - Open on Insert, Execute Autorun.sh and Ask before execute.

I went to Peripherals, but it only has stuff for the kayboard, mouse and digital camera. There is no CDROM! Should it be there???? And how can I put it there?
Help appreciated!

Are there any packages for Mandrake 9.0 I could try installing to detect my CDROMs properly???? I tried all the mounting commands, but they seem not to work. It cannot be a "supermount" problem because they are not set to "supermount".
Help appreciated!
