ok, I have been trying not to bother anyone with this, but I have been unable to find a solutions to this:

UT runs GREAT in Linux, no strange problems except 1: the sound. Sometimes it works, some times no sound at all, and most times, I get sound, but it seems like it is running too fast, kind of like playing a 45 at 78 ( if people remember what an album is :-) )

I am using an AC'97 built in sound card, and it works for everything else ( until I load UT, then it stays at warp speed)

Any ideas? I did install Linux drivers for the card.

try this
edit ~/.loki/ut/System/UnrealTournament.ini

in [Engine.Engine]

change the audio device to

AudioDevice=Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem

Thanks for the tip, I did try it, it did not fix teh sound problem, but oddly enough, it did slow my frame rate so slow that it looked like it was frozen. and eh mouse would not move. I changed it back to AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem
and everything is back to the way it was. still have warp speed on sound though.

Ok, just to get this thread back online, is there a website that would offer addition information on the Via Chipset sound cards? I did go to the MB website, and downloaded what they called updated drivers for Linux, but it turned they were the same ones that were on the CD. so no help there.

Thanks.

Just an update:
I unistalled the VIA drivers that came with my MB, and downloaded drivers that I found here http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=60 and everything seems to be working, sync is off a little, but hey, I can live with that.

Thanks!
