audio cd woes

I posted here recently about not having audio. I've fixed that problem, so now i'd like to be able to play music from the cd drive. I've installed the cdread plugin for xmms, but I haven't been able to configure it.

This may be a silly question, but do you have the little wire connecting your CD-Rom drive to your sound card? I'm pretty sure CD audio won't work without it.

Other than that, I don't know :)

Right, that's why I installed cdread - it's a different plugin. It's supposed to be able to bypass that problem. My problem is that I can't mount the cd - can't access the .cda files for xmms to play.
