Okay hey all - I have a really *strange* problem here, hope for some help... I somehow managed to create this freakish morph of KDE and Gnome together on the same session.
My default/current WM was KDE at the time, and I was (as a n00b) going through my different subdirectories (specifically, /usr/bin), trying to see what and where different programs were. I was opening many different programs I found in /usr/bin, some of which I knew and others I didn't. For example, from KDE I opened Gnome's Nautilus file manager from /usr/bin, and a variety of other programs - not all of which actually did anything upon opening.
After I had my fill of investigating, I closed my Konqueror window to find a completely blank, white desktop except for my icons, which were of the Gnome Nautilus sort (for my "Home", "Trash", and whatnot), not the regular KDE icons. I was puzzled, and proceeded to right-click on the desktop, only to find the Gnome desktop menu, not the KDE one that should've appeared. Opening my Home folder brought it up - only in Nautilus and not Konqueror. And the list goes on.
The only thing that is still KDE is my taskbar/run menu. It still appears as the big "K", and is not the Gnome menu, but the KDE one.
I decided to logout and log back into KDE, hoping it would automagically restore. However, my next big mistake was to accidentaly accept the logout while saving session changes (I uttered the loudest *Do'h!* as soon as I pressed OK). So now after I logged back in the settings were identical as before.
I don't know cause I havent been using Linux all that long, but I get the feeling this isnt one of those "frequent mistake" n00b problems... I have *no* clue as to how to fix this problem, so any ideas would be most appreciated. If anyone wants a screeny of the desktop with both WMs, I'll post it.
Thanks!
