I use Gnome 1.4 ( I think its 1.4 anyway)
I noticed when I am logged in as a normal user, that I can' run things like GDMConfigurator, or Gnome Menu Editor, I always have to shell out, su to root and then kick it off from the console.
Is there a way around this? I thought maybe setuid as root on those apps but I get the feeling that:
1) This is not a "good" way of doing it
2) It didn't work anyway... =)
Anybody have any ideas? I also just bought the linux community another fan of linux and I know he's been surfing these boards as well, but I still get asked a few things and he asked this one the other night and I had no answer.
He also stated that his GDM login screen doesn't have a place where he can select to shutdown the machine.
We both rund Debian testing/unstable builds...
