I'm having two problems right now. First the less serious:

I have both KDE and GNOME installed on my Debian system, and right now when I boot up I get the gdm. When I turnoff the computer, the first few init lines tell me that kdm wasn't even running. I would rather have kdm running than gdm. How do I do this?

My other problem is a bit more serious (but it might be related). When I log into gnome I have access to all of my fonts, but in KDE I only have access to a few of them? What's causing this problem and how do I fix it?

I'd appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thanks.

Re the default windows manager - have a look at /etc/X11/default-display-manager. Mine goes straight into kde and reads /usr/bin/kdm.
With regards to the font server have a look at the fonts being loaded - you get some help at www.paulandlesley.org on this issue.
