KDE 3.. Help!!!

I just upgraded my mandrake 8.2 system to KDE 3.0.4. I am having LOADS of problems! The main one being it will not launch any of the KDE Configuration programs, and it hangs and just poops out when I try and launch a terminal. The Konquerer web browser keeps crashing, and I am having loads of other misc. problems.

I have heard KDE has lots of problems with Mandrake.. But i really like KDE, what options do I have?

I downloaded all of the KDE rpm's, and did the auto select install..

OK, scratch that.. I uninstalled all KDE files, and re installed KDE 3. But now I have a new slew of problems!

First thing is I lost the GUI login screen and it boots straight into IceWM. How do I get the login back??

So I boot to CL only, and type, kde3, but I get an error saying..

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

XIO: fatal IO error 104

I have been able to log into KDE 3 if I type "XFdrake", go through the setup, then right after type "kde3" But this will only let me start KDE as root, and only right after I preform XFdrake..

weeelll... i dunno.. but im sure someone else does.. heh thanks for any help..


BTW: When I do get into KDE 3, as root, it still has the previous problems, I.E. Not loading configuration programs, Terminal, etc..

arrggg, kde is making me mad.. does Mandrake 9.0 have these problems with KDE also?? i should get that, but i'll have to wait till January to d/l it.. damn cable modem transfer cap :mad:
