I need some info on my mouse behavior. Quake 2 looks great. It starts up really, I get sound, I was able to set the controls, etc. But even tho I have freelook set to yes, the mouse does not move at all. I try changing the mouse sensitivity, but that didn't change a thing. Any ideas on how to fix this are appreciated.

Thanks,
Hector

what version of quake2 are you using? ie. id's binaries, quake2forge, icculus.org/quake2 ?

do any of the mouse buttons work?

do you get any errors on startup about the mouse?

Hi,

I used the icculus.org run script to install Quake 2. The mouse buttons work and I was able to assign my regular control commands to them. They actually function without a hitch in-game. The only thing that's dead is mouse movement when trying to do freelook. No error messages at startup, either. I got a new issue, tho. Now it gets stuck on initializing sound and I don't know how to disable sound.

Thanks for your help,
Hector

Fixed the sound init problem. I went into the sound server setup inside the KDE Control Panel. The mouse moves at choppy steps. It's like it wants to work, but it doesn't!

Thanks again

k, i ended up setting artsd to not startup in KDE, and also I think the mouse not moving was because i was at 800x600. I set my screen to full and 1024x768 and now it works. Altho, I think it had something to do with artsd that the mouse wouldn't move.
