well ,
i install linux many time and face no problem any time but i install linux today on an other pc. i start it and login with root then a fatal error come
"panel error"
a dialog box appear right when i login into gnome which indicates that your panel is crashed and it is fatal error.
i think some package is not loaded correctly
i think by reinstalling some packe from distribution this error will go away
but i don't exactly know ehich one
so if someone has any idea about this reply me as soon as possible

The quickest way to bring it back is type "gnome-panel" at a command line. If that doesn't work delete your /home/$USER/.gnome/panel directory or for extreme cases, the whole /home/$USER/.gnome/ directory.

what distrobution you running? Have you loaded any Gnome updates? This use to be a really bad problem with Red Hat 7.0 - 7.3 and updating usually fixes it. I haven't seen this at all in RH8.0 so that is a good sign it was fixed with gnome 2 ;)
