how do i install houdini on mandrake 9. I know that sidefx is supporting Red hat but why would that make a difference which distro i use? There must be a way.
Oh BTW i'm a newbe to Linux so don't through too much jargon at me cheers :)
I donno what Houdini is but probably there are tar package version and you can use that.
Houdini is a 3d app, www.sidefx.com. I tried asking in the forum there but not a lot of help. I was hoping if someone else had already installed it. It is possible but since i'm a complete newbie it really frustrating not knowing why something supposedly simple is not working.

find a rpm prolly on freshrmps, google, ect ect and use the software installer from mandrake, urpmi or get a tar package
there is none, just what the site has with links to single compressed files. Normally i could just type in one of the file names 'houdini.install' and it should work as long as i have the file decompressed to a folder. but this is not working for me.

Houdini is officially supported by Red hat Distro but does work on others.
