Hmm... you stating that you are not gonna try it out, and you expect us to try it out and then tell you if it's worth the time? Um... I think I'll wait for someone else to go through that mess before I try it.

hey d00d, someone in my lug passed this url onto me,and it looks pretty kewl, but I DON'T HAVE THE TIME RIGHT NOW to try it out, due to finals/work.
I'm doin' a favor to everyone else here by postin' the url, and NO ONE is forcing you to check it out
....and then you can either take it or leave it.

Haven't tried it out but you might like to check out FooBillard at http://foobillard.sunsite.dk/
PS. Why aren't there any screenshots of the game at http://www.tobias-nopper.de/BillardGL/index-en.html? Seems strange...

Sorry about that (I was just about to note that I found some screenshots when I found that you had already posted this.).
Also, if you're under Gentoo, you can find it in the Portage tree. However, you have to do the following step to get the game to work properly:
ln -s /usr/share/games/BillardGL/ /usr/share/BillardGL
Do this after emerging the game. This should allow you to play the game as the root user (I'm still figuring out what I have to change to allow a normal user to play. I tried adding the user to the game group, but that doesn't seem to make a difference). Anyway, I'm off to try out the game.
PS. Why does it take 99% of my CPU? Seems that lots of OpenGL-based games do this (ex. FooBillard also does this).
i just installed it - cause it's just an apt-get for me :)
the graphics are REALLY slick.
i don't have time to play around with it today 'cause im getting ready to go on vacation for X-Mas.
I will DEFINATELY be playing with this when i get home.

Played it for a few minutes. I think it's pretty good and the graphics are excellent, but one area that it can improve in (maybe I overlooked it if it's already there) is line-of-sight. When you play foobillard, you'll understand what I mean. Cybr099, check out foobillard (http://foobillard.sunsite.dk/). The graphics are almost as good and I prefer the game play (ease of shooting and line-of-sight, which helps you considerably when shooting). I don't know how to get back-spin and side-spin, etc. in either game. Does BillardGL contain it? Thanks.

Overall, I don't like the game. Despite the nice graphics, it's just too hard to play. You have nothing to line up your shot and the controls are kinda icky. You have to click many times to be able to shoot...sometimes you over-click which just taps the ball and you lose your turn. Something with a pool cue would be nicer...
To improve the controls, it would be nice to be able to just hold down control and move the mouse just to change viewing angles...then change the aiming angle with just the mouse. It seems too complicated the way he made it.
Anyways...it's okay. It's playable but not the best. Great graphics.

evulish, I had the same impression (see my previous post) about the lining up of your shot and so forth. You might want to try out Foobillard instead: http://foobillard.sunsite.dk/
