I have high graphic games such as "GTA 3 Vice City" and "Battle Field 1942" for my PC and I am running Red Hat 8 on it...I am going to get a Geforce 4 graphics card with 64 MB of RAM...Can you use this graphics card with RH 8?
Also can you play those games on RH 8?
THANX

YEs you can use that graphics card with RH. You need/want to download the linux drivers from nvidia's site and follow their instructions on installation. Check out transgaming.org I know that the first GTA3 worked somewhat under winex but I don't know about Vice City. Last I checked BF1942 did not work. If gaming is your thing then Linux is gonna limit you.

I haven't seen anypne successfully run BF1942 under Linux at all. Hell, some people have problems running it under windows ;)

Linux maybe limited, but not crippled...
I am a hardcore gamer and have not used Windows for games in almost a year. There are more and more ports to linux and even some new games are shipping with the Linux binaries to play them natively (UT2003 and Doom3. There are many others where you can download an installer for Linux... Never Winter Nights [still in development], UT)
There are a few posts here with a zillion links to where you can find games for Linux.
To get any game working with you GeForce you will need to get the drivers from www.nvidia.com as stated and be sure to read the README on how to install and configure.
To run Windows games in Linux check out www.transgaming.com (typo in prior post) you can download the source for free, but to get the binary packages (RPMs) you need to be a subscriber at $5/month (3 month min.) but worth it for reliable trouble free installs (and they have the copy protection code in them)

Mahdi,
I envy you! :)
I've been dual booting for the past year, cause I didn't have time to figure out how to make my games work under Linux. Now I have the time, and I'm taking the bull by the horns!!! Then Win98 will just be there for my wife and daughter to use. LOL

Oh, you can finally buy The Sims from Transgaming WITHOUT having to get the Mandrake Gaming Edition for $30 now :)
I hope they get the expansions added to the list soon...at least Hot Date :D
You can find many Linux games at www.tuxgames.com but I find them to be WAY over priced and find alternitive sites to buy from (they have Tux Racer for $27 but you can get it directly from www.tuxracer.com for $15 ;))
