I have a Linux/XP dualboot system that is part of a three computer home network. I have a DI-704P router that I am using to network them together and use the printserver. I connect to the internet with a USR 56K external modem connected to the dualboot computer (no broadband yet!). This works fine in Windoze, but not in Mandrake. I have configured kppp correctly and the modem connects to my ISP, but no activity occurs. I cannot ping any websites. If I go into Mandrake Control Center and disable the NIC, I can surf the web through the modem with no problem. It seems that linux wants to surf through the router and not the modem. When I set up the modem, I told Mandrake that the modem was the way I wanted to connect to the internet. I'm a total Linux Newbie, so I'm clueless as what to do!
