Hello All,
I'm running Redhat 7.3, and it mostly works fine. Except when I attempt to view a video file, which crashes my computer. I've been looking into this for a while and I think I found the source of my problem: I use a S3 ProSavage(I have no idea what version number) video card, that came with my computer. Appearantly this card does not properly support the XVideo system, which both Xine and MPlayer use. Has anyone else had this problem? Or, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Any help would be appriciated,
-hikan

I believe that card is only supported as vesa in Linux as of now.

They need to release drivers, but didn't they go out of business or sell out to someone?

I have no memory :(

S3 became SonicBlue a while ago. I had an S3 Inc. Savage4 (Engineering Bitflip) card, and there were so many issues with it on Windows alone (which usually works fine in 2D, whatever the card may be), that I just threw it out and got myself a GeForce2 MX 200. However mplayer says that nVidia cards suck for watching videos.... *sigh*. MPlayer can use other methods of viewing (DRI, OpenGL, etc.), but usually Xv is the fastest... try it with the different output modes!
