TheGimp 12-13-2002, 02:31 AM there is a Q3A Linux CD, but no Linux RTCW CD. You don't have to buy Q3A again. Grab the linux point releases for both at http://www.idsoftware.com jbmcmillan 12-13-2002, 10:04 PM How do I install the discs in linux?Do I just install like in windows and d/l the point releases? Also on my Q3demo the GF3 card is listed as pci not agp yet I run up to 200 fps.I can't adjust the brightness in game either. ALLYOURBASE 12-15-2002, 12:46 AM TheGimp how do you know all this stuff really?! TheGimp 12-15-2002, 01:29 AM I get around :) TheGimp 12-15-2002, 01:38 AM Originally posted by jbmcmillan How do I install the discs in linux?Do I just install like in windows and d/l the point releases? Install the pointrelease and copy the files from the cd. Hopefull the files are in linux friendly format and you can just copy the *.pk3 files from the cd to your quake3/baseq3 and quake3/missionpack directories. [QUOTE][B] Also on my Q3demo the GF3 card is listed as pci not agp yet I run up to 200 fps. It looks like AGP mode isn't enabled. cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status will tell you what is enabled. You might have to switch to agpgart if you're using nvidia's agp driver. I can't adjust the brightness in game either. what about setting the gamma with r_gamma then vid_restart ? (http://www.google.com/search?q=linux+quake&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0) www.linuxquake.com was right at the top of the list, and seems like a good place to start. Google is your friend. :D jbmcmillan 12-15-2002, 03:29 PM I now have Q3a and RTCW running smooth a silk Thankyou.I did do several google searchs albeit with different wording with out any clear hits on how to do this.I missed the obvious wording and couldn't see the forest for the trees lol Once again Thanks hecresper 12-23-2002, 12:41 PM Looks like www.linuxquake.com is falling apart at the seams. I did surf thru that site a while back when the author had time to update it more often. At that time, I didn't have the time on my hands to research and figure out how to make my favorite games work in Linux. Now I do! And I already have Quake 2 up and running with flying colors! I used this forum, Google/Linux, www.linuxquestions.org, and irc.openprojects.net: #slackware channel. Just last nite I downloaded the Quake 3 point release, and as soon as I get a chance, I'll be installing Quake 3, too. I read somewhere that all I have to do is run the install for the point release. That will create a Quake3 directory. Then I just copy the pk3 file off the CD into that directory. Voila! Quake 3 is installed! justlinux.com
