I am at a loss. I have tried everything to get ut 2003_demo to work to no avail. I have d/l'd new display driver's from nvidia(both kernel and GLX) and installed them. And I modified the xf86config file, making sure that glcore and dri were commented out or removed and changing "nv" to nvidia.
The error message I continue to get is

bash-2.05a$ ./ut2003_demo
open /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

History:

Exiting due to error
I am running Slackware 8.1 on a P4 1.8 GHz cpu, GeForce 3 Ti200 graphics card
Abit motherboard
C-media sound
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You edited the XFree86Config-4 right? Also make sure NVDriver is listed in your etc/modules

You look on the 3rd CD, for a shell script named something like linux-install.bin or linux-install.sh or something. Then you run it.

Make sure you run it from some other directory (like your home directory), though, or you won't be able to switch CDs when it tells you to.

as a complete linux idiot newbie too, here is what i did to install the damn game.

right click on the demo file you downloaded (it was a .bin or somehting) and select properties, then in the permission tag, check the "exec" case of the user class. exit. double click on it. A small script should start and then ut2003 installation will start.

okay but i'll rather use sh./UT2003-demo-Linux.sh.bin
