Hi,
I'm installing Slackware 8.0 on an IBM Thinkpad 380 with a 6GB hard drive and 80MB of RAM. I know the laptop is kinda dated, but I feel it has more than enough resources to run Linux. I've installed Slackware on a Dell laptop and also on my home desktop. So I'm not new to installing Linux, but this time I ran into something totally weird.
First, I ran into the problem of 0K size files after downloading the necessary files. So, I had to look thru the downloaded folders and replace the ones with 0K size. No problem there! Now, I have everything I need to install Slackware. Well, I got a message saying that it could not find a specific disk(or folder/directory). I thought that was totally bizarre because I made sure I downloaded everything needed. I looked at the actual source folder and the disks in question ARE there.
Anyone ran into this sort of issue before?
These are the source folders it told me I didn't have:
d1, gtk1, kde1, n1, and xap1
Again, those folders ARE there, but the setup routine told me they're missing.
System specs:
IBM Thinkpad 380
80MB RAM
6GB Hard drive
Internal CD-ROM and floppy(CD-ROM does not support booting from a CD)
Dual booting Windows 98SE and Slackware <-- once I get it installed correctly.
Thanks,
Hector
