1. I have Asus A7V266-E motherboard with a RAID 0 configuration on two 40 gigabit Western Digital harddrives for speed and performance of data access and storage. How will Linux handle this using a Mandrake Distribution on a dual boot installation. (Widows XP is already installed on my system)?
2. Will a Logitec optical cordless mouse cause problems during installation?
3. Should I disconnect my scanner during installation?
4. Will a Athlon XP1600 processor cause any issues?
5. Is there a chance that automatic hardware detection will succeed? 6. Would Redhat or anouther distribution be more reliable for me?

Many thanks from a seeking Student!

The motherboard and processor.. no problem.

You may want to check the HCL for each of the distros you are considering especially for the raid controller and scanner.

They may have documentation and installatin tips to help with both of those.

You may need to use the append statement suggestion as described in http://www.murty.net/ataraid/
