I am SUCH a newbie... However, I did manage to install Linux Mandrake 7 on an old Micron computer I had sitting around.... The Mandrake 7 box (it's old too...) says that the distribution comes with StarOffice. I'm playing around a bit with Linux... but I have NO idea where StarOffice is or how to access it.
Thanks! N.

just because it comes with your box doesnt mean it was installed
you need to find out if you installed it first then if you didnt you need to install it off of the installation disks
a quick way to check just open a terminal and type staroffice

If it's not currently installed on your machine, then look for it on your install CDs. It will be named something like:
staroffice.<something>.i586.rpm
When you find it, use the rpm process to install it:
rpm -ivh staroffice.<something>.i586.rpm
You may get dependency errors, based on what is currently installed, but then again maybe not.

IIRC Mandrake at that point still had an additional CD of commercial software (the stuff that wasn't available on the download addition) that isn't included in the install. You'll probably find it on that CD.
