I would think that could be due to all sorts of reasons.
Could you please include your partitions, sizes, other operating systems and anything else you think may assist the LNO members with troubleshooting the problem.
Is this right at the beginning of the installation?
Try adding at the boot prompt...
nodma
noapic
noacpi
nousb
one at a time.
Also check your bios settings and adjust as necessary. Try disabling power management.

Hi mdwatts,
I'm using a customised laptop and don't really know the configuration. My problem was that my RedHat 8.0 installation always hangs at Initializing PC card, after the first input was required (where you choose whether you want Graphical or non-graphical installation).
I tried noprobe but it doesn't work for me. I was going to dump this piece of Laptop back to the vendor until I saw you post. I tried your method (I'm too lazy, so I just type :linux noprobe nodma noapic nousb), the installation started finally. I then manually select the NIC drivers and it seems installing for now, was asking for Disk 2 when I was writing this reply.
My question is, due to my laziness, will there be any side effects? But I will try to install any device manually later if they are affected.
Thanks again mate!
Cheers and Regards...
