Desktop shortcut

I wrote a short script and saved it in a text file. The script runs a calendar program that I wrote in Java. So when I type:

# calendar

at the command prompt...it runs the calendar program.

My question is....Is there a way I can create a desktop shortcut so when I double click the shortcut it either runs the calendar program or runs the script???

instead of opening up the command prompt????
