I go to the Mandrake web site, find the downloadable old versions, but can't find any logical guidance on how to create a bootable CD from the files available. Which files do I download? How do I create a bootable CD?...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

HI caribsoul
do you wnat to install Mandrke 9.0? becuse the first install CD is bootable & it has the Rescue tools on it.
in order for your system to boot from the CD you need to make your CD-ROM drive the first bootable device in your BIOS! if you want to download MD 9.0 you can get it from here http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=29 I hope that helps  if you need further help post back!

Try this....go to mandrake.com. Click on Downloads. Click on mandrake/i586 or older versions. Choose a mirror site. Tell me which files to download and how to create a bootable CD. I know how to set up my PC to boot off a CD....I just can not find any coherent instructions that tell me which files to download and use to burn a bootable CD on the Mandrake site. They are all there....there's just no documentation that is understandable. Thanks....

Is there a reason that you want an older version?
The simplist method would be to down load the iso images. There are 3 of them and the image name tells you the version and which CD it is. Then using a cd writing program like Roxio Easy CD Creator or Nero create the actual CD from the image file.
I have ECDC and all you do is select file | create from ISO, select the iso image and then create the CD. The first CD is bootable.
