Try that link. It is a very comprehensive guide to samba.

About Samba?
Strangely enough, when I installed RH 8 the first time (under normal desktop config)....no Samba....after screwing up trying to manually install Samba, I tried Reinstall for the "Network Setup". Still NO Samba....tried install separatly again...another crash and burn.... For some reason when I did a full install (that little option on the bottom when you select what components you want) It came up w/ Samba already installed. Don't know if it's fully functional, and what needs to be done to make it work (haven't gotten too brave in that respect yet :) ).
I also am VERY new, and have problems installing ANYTHING....if you are feeling the same pain...maybe just doing the full install will be helpful for you too. Now, I just gotta figure out how to unistall the crap I really don't need.....

NP,
I'm really gettin a little trigger shy about installing anything..getting really good a reinstalling the whole OS though :)...Think I'm gonna make EVERY possible mistake before I get this right...just a quick question for you? Are you just running a simple file/print sharing between two boxes? If so and are successful, Plz let me know. I have an XP box I want to file/shr with. I don't have a switch or hub yet, so can't share my Cable connection, but would be happy to just leave the XP machine connected to the net, download to a shared folder, then be able to pull the dowloaded stuff to my box.... at least till I can afford a switch. I just have two machines...the XP machine has two Ethernet cards (one for the cable modem/other going to my box)...I had them talking when they were both XP, but haven't been brave enough to try making it talk to Linux yet....
