I have checked the NHF on Sblive (and Audigy). I have the correct emu10k1. I and running w/ no PnP
in my BIOS. Nor, do I have anything wrong with my Audigy.

When I run 'modprobe emu10k1' I get:

/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o:
init_modules: No such device

Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

Please help me I have been trying his for three months with out support.

I have also no on board soundcard.

Sorry, i'm not sure what you mean when you say you have internal but not external sound. If you mean you can play things like wav files but not a cd then it could well be a problem with either your mixer input settings or the cable that runs from the cdrom to the soundcard itself.

Do you have a SB Live or Audigy?

For the Audigy, I believe you need to download, compile and install the driver from http://opensource.creative.com

Also see if the suggestions in this thread (http://linuxnewbie.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76094) help.

I have sound blaster audigy.
And by internal sound, I mean the one warning chirps and beeps.
