Hello all,

I am hoping to get some answers for a problem I have been having getting my printer working from my redhat 7.3 box running samba.

First question, I am using a printer that is completly unsupported by linux (Xerox docuprint P8) i would like to print to this printer from my windows 2000 pc's on my home network. My question is this, if you are only using this printer to print from windows pc's on the network, does the printer have to be supported under linux or can you just hook it up and use the drivers on the windows pc's to send the jobs?

My second question is this, if you can just hook up the printer and be able to print from the windows pc, besides the default values you are given in the smb.conf file, what else needs to be added so that the printer shows up in the "printers" folder on the linux box.

Other than this issue, samba is running beautifully.

thanks for your help.
