modprobe error - help

When I run sndconfig to get my Sound Blaster Live! card to work it comes to the part where it gives the test sound. Modprobe is giving me this error:

/lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: init_module: No such device

/lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: insmod emu10k1 failed

I don't know what to do, help!

Do you have /sbin/modprobe EMU10K1 enabled in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules?
or is the line alias sound EMU10K1 in your /etc/modules.conf
have you gone to nvidia site and d/l the driver?
use the NVchooser file from site to see which driver you need.

Nvidia? For a soundcard? Learn something new everyday.:confused:

Try moving your card to another slot.

The slot changing thing worked! Thanks! I can talk through my mic but I cannot play CD's. I have a usb cdrom drive. Could this be the case?

What do you mean can't play cd's?No sound? No Power? What app are you using to play them?

Make sure that the audio cable between your CD-ROM and soundcard is present.
If it isnt, i dont think playing directly from CD-rom will work. ;)
