my clock goes to sleep

Hey, linux is working great thanks to you guys! But I just have a couple of little things to fix... (c:

When my system goes into sleep mode the clock stops until it is activated again. Now, this is a new feature to me since in Windows it would just crash (sort of like java). Linux will actually use the power saving features correctly, except for the clock.

I have been searching google for posts on this subject but can't find much. I have been playing with ntp and rdate, and sure it is fixable by entering the right command but was hoping for a more automagical solution.

Is it possible that my hardware is not quite standard?

The system is:
RH 7.3 (recompiled kernel)
Gnome 1.4
nVidia driver installed
eMachines 600 mhz Celeron
192 mb sdram
10 gb eide drive

Any ideas?

sleeping and shutdown seem to don't want to listen half of the time. Just kill the sleep and use a screensaver

Also check the power management settings in your system bios.
