cross network burner

i read an article from TECHTV email today. it was talking about one computer using a cd burner on another computer in its network. they said it could be done. so there is no reason why i can't backup my Linux files onto my windoze cd burner, correct?

At work I've setup webCDwriter (on Linux) to share a cdwriter across the network. Very nice too and management is quite impressed.
