Hey gang, I'm new here on the Linux PPC forum and somewhat new to Linux. The only reason I say somewhat, is that I have only dabbled a lil' with RH 7.2 for x86 (and my wife got mad for installing a "free OS" on her PC :D ). So, after a day and a half of d/loading YDL 2.3 (Dayton) via Dial-up, I finaly have installed YDL. Here's the situation, and then I'll follow with specs, just in case someone can find where/why this problem is happening.
I have a Radeon PCI -> Mitsubishi 91TXM (19") and no matter what resolution(s) I try from ' /usr/lib/yi/dexter.py ' , I only get the left half of the screen showing KDE starting up. When I've tried the "failsafe" (generic VGA I'm assuming), it will fail to write the X-Config-4 file. So, here goes:
PPC 9500 (w/XLR-G3/500)
288MB-RAM,
SCSI Bus 1 (internal)
ID 0 = Mac OS (terminated, where BootX is installed) 2GB
ID 1 = 4GB (used for temp. storage)
ID 3 = CDROM
Ext Bus not in useBus 2 (thru Adaptec 2930 in PCI Slot A1)
ID 0 = ( term.) 9GB Barracuda
ID 1 = (Sole Linux Drive, is this bad?) 9GB Cheetah
ID 2 = 9GB Deskstar
Slot D1 = ATI Radeon PCI. Note, the monitor is attached to the Radeon via a VGA x 5BNC cable, might this be my problem???
Any/all help appreciated.
TIA
Bill
