How do I get a screenshot of my linux desktop?

at a command line type: import -window root [desired_filename.jpg]

you can try gimp or if you 're using kde, it has a program called somehting like snapshot..(can't remember exactly).
or try the "import" command, but i'm not too sure about it so do man import and see what comes up

there is a plugin for gkrellm that you can use to take screenshots. its called gkrellshoot

oh..that's just wmmemon.

to get red color, just execute :
wmmemmon -lc red
ls --> light color i think..

If I hit the "Print Scrn" button on my keyboard, I get a "Save As" dialog box to save my screenshot.png
