Mozilla-Instant Messaging

I often go on a local website that uses instant browser messages so people can chat. This won't work with mozilla for some reason. I know mozilla supports it because it was working before I renstalled Mandkrake. Any suggestions anyone?

Some are java based, I believe. Do you have java installed?
