I've done a fairly standard mdk9 install, and of course now have about 100000000 apps I'll never use. I'm in the process of removing the junk I don't want, but I need to know which mail client I should be going for.

I've tried Kmail which is nice, but from my whole 5 minutes spent looking (;)) I couldn't see an easy way to set up 2 or more mail accounts. I'd like to know 1) is it possible to set up multiple mail accounts in Kmail and 2) What other linux mail clients do.

I use one called Becky! in windows, which is nice and plain and well laid out, so something like that would be ideal.

Evolution is great, very Outlookesque though, but I like it. If you want something simple and fast then you may like Mutt. If you want GUI and don't like Evolution then how about Sylpheed.

Evolution:

Mutt:

I have been using Evolution and Mozilla Mail to see which I like better, and overall I like Evolution. But, I am now using the Mozilla Mail client because:

1) I don't need the scheduling/task functionality of Evolution. If you do, it's a no-brainer.

2) Mozilla lets me "delete from the server when deleted locally" or something like that. This lets me strip unwanted messages from the POP3 server while still having the mail I want to keep on there (for checking through the web from another location, etc). In Evolution you can only keep on server or remove from server, period.

The filtering in the two programs is similar, though in Mozilla you can't filter messages from your inbox that are already there, only incoming messages. So, I had to spend some time moving by hand, which might have been enough to keep me using the same program for more than a month!
