I have got a problem installing my CD-ROM.

Its a samsug SC 152 and has a EIDE/APATI interface.

I installed slackware 8.1 on my box and it runs fine, but it only supports IDE or ATAPI and has no documentation on EIDE/APATI. Searched the Internet already but cant find the answer.
When I put in an old CD-ROM it works.

Am I looking for the right solution whit the EIDE or is there an other problem I’m not seeing.

Thanks and grz caby

Shouldn't make any difference.

How are trying to install the drive? What problems are you having?

Is the master/slave jumper configured correctly?
Is the IDE cable correctly connected to the drive?
Is the BIOS recognizing it correctly?
Does linux recognize it during boot up? (dmesg)

It works fine in windows so its connected properly and it shouldn’t be a BIOS problem.

Wen I try to mount it sass : Cdrom is not a valid block divvies
Yes it recognises it during the boot up.

I have folowd the instructions from

What command are you using to mount it?

What type of disk are you mounting?
